PRINTING PROBLEMS
With the moving of FSPC to a Windows© environment, we took the control of the printer from the FSPC program and gave it to Windows. Since this is the case, we do not include any drivers with the program (unlike the FSPC for MS-DOS program); as long as your printer is Windows compatible, it should print reports from the FSPC for Windows application.
Printer manufacturers now supply the drivers for their printers. The best place to get these drivers is from the manufacturer’s web site. If you are experiencing problems with printing from FSPC for Windows or any other Windows program, please make sure that you have the latest available driver for your printer first. Instructions for updating your driver should be included on the manufacturer’s web site.
The ability to print multiple copies of the reports from the program is again printer specific. Most printers have the ability to print multiple copies and the number is set when you send output to the printer from the Report, Labels, Membership Cards screen or User Defined Reports screen. If you do not have this option, it might be due to the design of your printer, or a problem with the driver. We have had reports of Financial Secretaries re-installing the driver to correct the multiple page printing problem. Please check for updated printer drivers on the printer manufacturer’s web site.
Most printers can use a generic printer driver, which often corrects printing problems - for example, using a HP DeskJet driver for a HP DeskJet 520. Also, most printers are backward compatible. This means that the printer will work using an older driver of the same type of printer. The HP LaserJet 6P will print using a HP LaserJet II driver, for example.
Also, please bear in mind that different printers and printer drivers do not position text on the page in exactly the same location. Using the same computer and same FSPC program, it is possible to get different results when printing to another printer or printing with a different printer driver. Thus it is impossible to guarantee that the text will appear precisely in the position intended.
For more information regarding your printer, please check your printer manufacturer’s web site.
