Version 3.0 Bugs

1. Restoring a Backup to FSPC for Windows Fixed in 3.52

We have discovered a problem with the restore function in FSPC version 3.0. This error does not allow you to restore a backup to the FSPC Program. You will need to update to version 3.01 to correct this problem. Go to the Upgrades & Downloads page to get the Update301 file.

2. Backing Up to a CD - 'Cannot Update Cursor' error message

Several users have reported problems accessing their data that was burned onto a CD.  You may save your data onto a CD, but you will not be able to edit it when inside the FSPC program.  Saving files to a CD changes their attributes to Read Only.  The FSPC program requires that the files have an attribute type of Archive.  This allows changes to be made to the files.  If you have saved your backup to a CD and restored it to the FSPC program, you will need to go into the FSPC 3 folder and right-click on each file of type DBF and FPT to change the attributes to Archive.  Also, delete all the CDX type files (these may be labeled Active Server Document instead).

3. Problems with converting from FSPC for MS-DOS version 2.0, 2.01 or 2.01K

Because of the complexity of the information included in the User Defined Reports, Queries, and Created Letters, these will not upgrade from FSPC for MS-DOS to FSPC for Windows. You should print a sample and use that to create the information in the new program.

4. "Cannot Quit Visual FoxPro" message when clicking on the X in the top right corner of the screen Fixed in 3.522

You cannot exit the program by using the X in the top right corner of the window. The only way to exit the program is by clicking on File then selecting Exit. This allows the program to close the .dbf files and delete the temporary files that FSPC for Windows creates.

5. Voucher Journal report total cannot exceed $9,999.99 - Total shows **,***.** Fixed in 3.52

This is an open bug that will be corrected in a future release.

6. Font is too small on the 3-across labels

This is not a bug in the program. In order to fit long city names and the Zip +4 code on the 3-across labels, it is necessary to have a small font. If this is a problem, you do have the option of using the 2-across labels. The 2-across labels use a larger font because there is more of a printable space. There is NO way to change the font size for ANY portion of the program.  Version 3.02a is expected to increase the current font size.

7. Cannot Exit the program after opening the Reports, Labels, Letters Screen

This was outlined in the Getting Started information that you should have printed out. The FSPC for Windows program has to run in a maximized window. This can be set up two ways:

1) Every time you start the program, click on the maximize window button in the top right of the window.

or

2) RIGHT click on the FSPC 3 shortcut icon on your desktop, left-click on Properties, left-click on Shortcut, change Run from Normal Window to Maximized and click OK.

8. The date in the ledger window converts to 1900 if the date was entered 00 in version 2

This is an open bug that will be corrected in a future release.

9. Error with the output when printing 1 Across Tractor labels

This is an open bug and has been sent on to the developer.

10. New Help Screen for Assess Dues

We have incorrect information in the Help Screens for the version 3.0 program. Assess Dues should read:

Assess Dues
Note: Before billing make sure that your printer is turned on, that it is online, has a new or serviceable ribbon or toner cartridge and is loaded with the appropriate billing form. If your printer develops a jam, you may reprint the job (in its entirety or in part – see printing topics).

Make certain you have allocated sufficient time for billing processing and the printing of your bills and notices. Depending on the type and speed of your printer and the size of your council, it could take hours to complete the process.

DO NOT SHUT OFF YOUR MACHINE DURING THIS PROCESS OR YOU WILL PERMANENTLY DAMAGE YOUR DATA FILES.

The quarter to be billed is determined by setting the value for the current quarter in the Process Member Dues Screen under the Procedures menu. To run 1st quarter billing, set the current quarter value to 1st in Billing Quarter on the Process Member Dues screen. Once this is done, it will automatically increment quarter to quarter after initial setup, assuming that you regularly run billing on a quarterly basis.

Depending on the number of billable members in your council, your computer equipment and other factors, this may take several minutes. Please be patient.

Remember to back up your system before your run billing. After reviewing the individual member ledger screens or the printed bills you wish to make some changes and you can rerun billing. To accomplish this, restore the database to the point prior to processing billing, make your changes, backup the database again and re-run billing.

11. The word "Anniversary" is spelled incorrectly on the Member Profile Report

This is an open bug that will be corrected in a future release.

12. When starting the FSPC for Windows program, you are asked for a Name and Password

Solution: The default User Name is FSPC and the default Password is HELLO. After entering this into the system, click on the KofC icon. Go to Setup and choose System Options and click on Disable Sign on Screen to place a check mark in that box. If the options are grayed out, then you need to re-install the FSPC for Windows program.  When you install, be sure to click Cancel when prompted for the DOS conversion.

13. Cannot Re-print the Orders on Treasurer Notice Fixed in 3.52

This is an open bug that will be corrected in a future release.

14. 'Group 1 Footer band too large to fit on page' error when printing the Knight Alert Notice

This error appears to only be a problem for certain printers. This seems to include ALL HP DeskJet 500 series printers (540, 550, 560C) and some Canon, Lexmark, and Epson InkJet printers. It appears to be a problem with the driver that those printers use. We installed a driver for a HP 540 and received the error, then installed a basic HP DeskJet driver and did NOT receive the error message.

If you are receiving this error, install a basic print driver for your type (HP DeskJet driver) and set this as your default printer. You should be able to print to either the printer or to a file.

If you have any other information about this error, please contact FSPC Product Support via e-mail at: fspc@kofc.org

15. 'Alias Is Not Found' error when printing reports

This error appears to be caused by a corrupt query database file. To correct this, download this file qry.dbf by clicking on the link, and copy it to your FSPC 3 folder. (My Computer, C, Program Files, Koc, fspc3). This will replace the existing qry.dbf with a new file. You will lose any queries that was entered into the system by you. You then should start the FSPC program then click on Tools and select Re-build Indexes.

16. Error in Help Screen for Labels

The 2 across labels are incorrectly listed in the Help Screens. The label should be:
2 Across (Avery 5261 or Avery 5161)
4" x 1" 2 across (10 down\20 labels/page)

17. "Cannot access the selected table" error when taking a backup

This is not a bug. Make sure that ALL open windows in the program are closed before you backup your program. This includes Member Information, Council Transactions, Query Builder, etc.

18. Program prints all member payments in the system when printing the Member Payment Trial Balance

This is a problem with the qry.dbf file. Click Here to go to the FSPC for Windows Download File Library and download the qry.dbf file. This will replace the old file with a new, clean file. You will have to re-enter any queries that you added to the program. Finally, go to Tools and select Rebuild Indexes.

19. Officers report does not print all of the Officers chosen for the term  Fixed in 3.52

There are multiple causes for this problem:
1) According to the Laws of the order, Officers can only hold one office at a time. FSPC will only select one office to print.

2) If the officer held the same office last year, do not re add the office to that member, just change the year at the top. This needs to be done when you are adding your officers for the year.

A solution: Change the office that is not printing to a different "dummy" member, then change it back. This is appearing to set the officers correctly. You do need to go to the "dummy" officer and remove the past office from his fraternal screen.

20. Officers who have transferred, withdrawn, or are deceased still print in the officers chosen for term Fixed in 3.52

If one of your officers is no longer an Associate or Insurance member, you need to change the office to a newly elected officer BEFORE you change the past officer's type or add a deceased date. If you changed the officer and the past officer prints, change the past officer's type or remove the deceased date, change to the current officer, then change the past officer's Type or re-add the deceased date.  If this still does not work, we may ask you to send in a backup file.

21. In FSPC version 3.0 and 3.01, the following queries include inactive members and should contain only active members Fixed in 3.52

Fourth Degree
First & Second Degree
First Degree
Honorary
Honorary Life
Honorary Only
Birthday Report

To work around this problem, you can build your own queries.  For Field 1select TYPE and choose Associate and Insurance.  The choice for Field 2 depends on the data needed for the query.  See the Queries help sheet for more information.

This will be fixed in the next release.

22. When printing the Bill or 2nd Notice, the ZIP code is not printing

The FSPC was originally designed to allow 28 characters in the last line of the postal addresses.  If your city is more than 12 characters long, the entire line will be more that 28 characters. Because FSPC is pulling the information from the individual fields, it will drop the ZIP +4 from the last line when it exceeds the 28 limit. You can either remove the +4 from the Zip (this might slow delivery of the bill and is not recommended by the USPS) or abbreviate the city to 12 characters.  The next release of FSPC is expected to allow for longer city names.

23.  The Council Roster Download I received does not contain 2nd and 3rd degree dates Fixed in 3.52

This is a limitation of the program which will be overcome in a future release.

24.  Council address information is printing too low on 2nd Notices Fixed in 3.52

On the 2nd Notices, the council name and address are printing too low at the top of the page.  This sometimes causes the zip code to print over top of the Amount Enclosed area.  This is a bug and is expected to be addressed with the next release.  A work around solution is to eliminate the council address by going to the Setup menu and choosing Council.  There, delete the address of the council.  If you like, you can type the city and state in the Address 1 area.   Be sure to change the information back to the way it was after you are finished printing 2nd notices.   The next release is expected to fix this problem.   3/27/2002

25.  More than one Notice of Intent to Suspend letter prints for a member Fixed in 3.52

When there are two members with the same last name, a Notice of Intent to Suspend letter prints out for each year they have a transaction in their ledger.  This is a bug and is being looked in to.  The work around solution is to individually select those members who are experiencing this problem.  In the Reports window, with the Notice of Intent to Suspend letter selected, click on the Member button and choose the member's name from the list.  Then checkmark the box to the right, Select This Member Only.  Now set the output to the printer and click Run.  This will print out one letter for that member.  4/5/2002

26.  Area Codes do not appear on the Notice of Intent to Suspend letter Fixed in 3.52

The Notice of Intent to Suspend letter does not include the area codes for the phone numbers listed at the top and bottom of the letter.  This is an issue that will be addressed in a future upgrade.  4/15/2002

27.  Blank entries appear in the Service Program Personnel Report Fixed in 3.52

The Service Program Personnel Report may print out a position without a member designated as the holder of that position.  This blank listing of a service position occurs when the member holding that office is deleted from the database.  The position then remains 'stuck..'  Please try to first delete the position from the member's Fraternal screen before deleting the member.  If you are experiencing this problem, send in a backup file to fspc@kofc.org, providing a brief message describing the problem.   7/5/2002

28.  Two fields in User Defined Reports not working Fixed in 3.52

In User Defined Reports, the fields Tran Paid To/Received From and Transaction Voucher Number are not set properly.  Using these fields in a User Defined Report results in an error message.  We are currently working to include a fix for this in the next release.    9/10/02
